Shaken, not Stirred... Yet
Training at Verizon is in full swing, and I'm beginning to understand what EDUCATION really is. I have been really trying to concentrate and learn. And the biggest surprise of all: I have started to open my mouth in class and ask questions. I am actually beginning to understand the mentality of my geek pals in college.
Ah! College Days! It would be during one of those so very boring lectures, where if one paid close enough attention, he would hear the gentle snores of the backbenchers. Suddenly we would sense a pause. The sleep-inducing voice of the lecturer has been interrupted. First, the half awake crowd would turn to their watches. Its not over yet. Cheh, some fool must have asked a doubt. Someone hush him up. We need the lecturers familiar voice to put us to sleep again.
Doubt-Clearing, though, was risky business. It was all about timing. Ideally, the doubt should be cleared in the beginning of the class, when the rest of the class are tucking themselves in, getting ready for the slumber session. The unfortunate few may have to clear thier doubts in the middle of the class. This however is attached to the risk of disturbing the backbenchers from their states of deep meditation, making the induvidual very unpopular, if he isnt already in the "known doubt clearers" list. And then there are the courageous few, brave enough to ask their doubts at the end of the class. This can be likened to covering oneself with peanut butter and sitting on the back of a grizzly bear just as it is coming out of hibernation.
The "doubt clearers" were always considered a strange breed of people for their supernatural capability of paying attention in class. However, I guess I am beginning to see things their way. Really, as someone put, "Those who can't hear the music, think the dancer is mad".
Till next time then!
